Sarah Daniels

Sarah received her BA in Communication/Public Relations from Millikin University in 2016. After graduation, she jumped into her first professional role as an AmeriCorps*VISTA focusing on economic development and education. Many of her duties entailed creating service-learning opportunities, grant management for voter engagement, solidifying and maintaining partnerships with community organizations. She then went on to complete her Master of Public Administration degree in May 2019 at the University of Illinois- Springfield.
During her time as an MPA student, she served as a Graduate Public Service Intern (GPSI) at the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services and a Case Manager at a behavioral health hospital.

Sarah joined The Illinois Collaboration on Youth in March 2020, as a Policy Analyst, amidst a global pandemic and was recently promoted to Assistant Executive Director where she co-leads the DEI committee and other expanded leadership efforts; including assisting in providing written and oral testimonies for the General Assembly’s legislative session and developing language for bills and resolutions.

She also serves as a subject matter resource in the areas of change to the child welfare and multi system-involved youth, including staying abreast of state and federal policies in the form of law, rules, and advocacy. And represents ICOY and its members on policy commissions, committees, and various workgroups.

Most notably, October of 2020, she started her real estate journey by completing and passing the IL Broker’s Exam in November 2021. With that accomplished, she is eager to step into the field, learning to sell and buy real estate, as well as develop and expand her network and portfolio that will assist in her personal wealth/real estate goals.

As a public servant, she is someone who wishes to teach and give back to those in the community, especially as it relates to regaining power in underserved areas through spreading knowledge to continue the work to close the wealth gap, and overcome the fear of leaning more into the home-buying/investor process.
When she is not working, she can be found traveling to see new sceneries, binge-watching the latest TV shows, or enjoying brunch with family and friends.
